Break Glass In Case Of Emergency

Yes, it happened.  I came down with some kind of “flu-virus” one week ago.  Actually I am almost sure it was Covid-19.  But I get ahead of myself.  I had fever, cough, aches and pains, and a headache.  It felt just like the influenza virus I had a few years ago (which my brother will remember as I was visiting him at the time).

Ok, I will admit that this time I had just returned from a weekend conference and I was near 1000 other people in small spaces (like meeting rooms and queues and in close hallways).  Crazy yes?  But isn’t my healthy diet and regime of supplements supposed to stop me from getting this kind of thing?  I take lots of vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc and quercetin.  But I got a virus anyway!

So I had to “break the glass” and dig out my Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine.  I was saving it for just such an occasion.  I started the Ivermectin right away and ramped up my vitamin C (liposomal of course) and went to bed for 3 days.  At this point, I did not know it was Covid-19 but I wanted to be pro-active. Now, as some of you may remember I am not vaccinated and I am not worried at all about getting any kind of virus, even Covid-19, as there are plenty of ways to treat it (Ivermectin being one of them).  As some of you may remember, I have given evidence in my previous blog posts (links) that if you are vaccinated you may have a higher risk of a bad outcome if you catch a cold or flu since some folks are showing reduced immune system functioning after the shot (link).

After just 3 days of taking Ivermectin, my low grade fever (not over 99.6 deg) broke and my headache ended and I started to feel much better.   Now some of you may say…” see, the vitamins and zinc and quercetin did not help”.  Why bother with all of those?  I would argue that I did very well during the illness BECAUSE I was taking all of them.  My “flu” could have lasted for 10 days to 2 weeks with lingering symptoms, but it was short and I recovered fast.

Now, how do I know I had Covid-19?  Because another family member whom I was with the entire time was also ill AND tested positive for Covid-19.  So, by association I had Covid-19.  The silver lining is that I now have antibodies to SARS-Cov-2 and so does my family member.

That said, the silver lining did not come without a cost.  Even though I fared well (I was left with a sinus infection after all was said and done) my family member went on to get pneumonia and a very bad cough as well as low blood oxygen.  A couple of ER visits later, they are doing much better.  My family member took monoclonal antibodies at the ER and that worked very well.  Many folks report improvement in symptoms in just 1-2 days after taking monoclonal antibodies.  Many states offer free treatments of monoclonal antibodies (Texas and Florida) and it looks like Massachusetts has them as well.  I say this because I want my friends who live in these areas to take action quickly if they get sick this winter and test positive for Covid-19 (vaccinated or not).

Monoclonal antibodies are laboratory-made proteins that mimic the immune system’s ability to fight off harmful pathogens such as viruses. The four laboratory-produced COVID-19 monoclonal antibodies – casirivimab, imdevimab, bamlanivimab, and etesevimab – are specifically directed against the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 designed to block the virus’ attachment and entry into human cells. These antibodies were first authorized in November 2020. According to the FDA, “they should be given as soon as possible after a positive test result.” This includes those who are 65 years of age or older who have certain chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or kidney disease (Baystate Health, Massachusetts).

Alabama, Florida, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, and Louisiana have accounted for 70% of monoclonal antibody orders in recent weeks, according to a spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).  Some states are witnessing shortages so don’t wait if you think you need the treatment. Regeneron is the “brand” name of the monoclonal antibodies.  Maybe you have heard people talk about it.

So, what words of wisdom do I have for you?  Don’t stop taking vitamin D, vitamin C, quercetin, and zinc this winter.  Let’s talk about why these four things are important.  Let’s say you come into contact with a cold virus this winter.  The virus enters your cells and starts to replicate.  (Virus’s use your cells enzyme machinery to replicate).  However, there is at least one thing that stops the replication.  That is ZINC.  But zinc needs help to get into the cell.  Antivirals help zinc to get into the cell.  (They are also called zinc IONOPHORES.)  Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin are zinc ionophores.  These medicines need a doctor’s prescription and some areas of the country are making it difficult to fill a prescription for these antivirals.  The good news is, something else is available that is over the counter.  It is quercetin.

Quercetin is a natural compound that works to shepherd zinc into the cell. Doctor Vladimire Zelenko used quercetin on six thousand patients in his upstate NY practice in 2020 (after the state of New York made Ivermectin unavailable).  Doctor Zelenko reviewed the literature and found that quercetin is effective at getting zinc into the cell.  Zinc stops the enzyme (RNA Dependent RNA Polymerase) that replicates the virus.  Only one of his patients was hospitalized in that time period.  Quercetin can be purchased at your local health store or on-line.   Go here for the Zelenko protocol or see below.

Below is Dr Zelenko’s suggested supplement protocol.  In his words-

“Based on this real world experience, peer reviewed literature and clinical trial data, this supplement combination has significantly improved patient outcomes and should be considered as part of the armamentaria against Covid-19.  As part of the Zelenko Protocol for COVID-19, I recommend the following for the prophylaxis of low and moderate risk patients:

●             Elemental Zinc 25mg 1 time a day

●             Vitamin D 5000 IU’s 1 time a day

●             Vitamin C 800 mg 1 time a day

●             Quercetin 500 mg 1 time a day

However, if you get Covid-19 here is the Zelenko treatment of low risk patients:

●             Elemental Zinc 50mg 1 time a day for 7 days

●             Quercetin 500 mg 2-3 times a day for 7 days

●             Vitamin C 800 mg 1 time a day for 7 days

●             Vitamin D3 5000 IU’s 1 time a day for 7 days

By the way, Doctor Zelenko is an orthodox Jew from Russia, born in 1973.  He is more spiritual than most rabbi’s we know.  And an excellent physician. Click the picture below for a link to the story of his life.

  1. As always, there is some really useful information in your article. It’s remarkable that more people have yet to discover the benefits of supplements in treating viruses, and other immunological diseases.
Indeed, combining effective pharmaceuticals with natural supplements can be more efficacious than pharmaceuticals alone, as supplements support the body and the immune system in addition to any antiviral properties they may have.
